1a. ITI Upgradation & National Centres of Excellence 2025
🛠️ National Scheme for ITI Upgradation + 5 National CoEs for Skilling
Union Cabinet approved this Centrally Sponsored Scheme with a total outlay of ₹60,000 crore (Central share ₹30,000cr, State share ₹20,000cr, Industry share ₹10,000cr), co-financed 50% of the Central share by the Asian Development Bank and World Bank.
- Will upgrade 1,000 Government ITIs (hub-and-spoke model).
- Capacity augmentation of 5 National Skill Training Institutes (Bhubaneswar, Chennai, Hyderabad, Kanpur, Ludhiana) into National Centres of Excellence for Skilling.
- Over 5 years: aims to skill 20 lakh youth; also trains 50,000 trainers.
- ITI network has grown ~47% since 2014, now 14,615 institutes with 14.40 lakh enrolment.
1b. PM Kaushal Vikas Yojana 4.0 2023
🎓 PMKVY 4.0 — Union Budget 2023-24
Launched via the Union Budget 2023-24 (1 Feb 2023) for skilling lakhs of youth for Industry 4.0 needs.
- Focus areas: coding, AI, robotics, mechatronics, IoT, 3D printing, drones, and soft skills.
- On-the-job training, industry partnerships, and alignment of courses to industry needs.
