SMAM: Mechanizing the Small Farm

The Sub-Mission on Agricultural Mechanization (SMAM), launched in 2014-15 by the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, aims to increase the "Farm power" availability for small and marginal farmers.

  • Crop Residue Management (CRM) Scheme: a related but distinct scheme (for Punjab, Haryana, UP, and NCT Delhi) offering 50% subsidy to individuals and 80% to CHCs specifically for stubble-management machinery, to curb paddy-straw burning.
